Review by hotel critic
As an outdoor adventure blogger who often explores the Swiss Alps seeking the ultimate Alpine experience, I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof during a city break. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the extremely friendly and helpful staff who went above and beyond to make our stay truly memorable. This level of hospitality was a breath of fresh air after some less-than-stellar experiences in other cities. The location of the hotel was ideal, just a few minutes away from the train station and surrounded by all the lovely attractions Zermatt has to offer. The hotel itself exudes history and charm, with a story that adds to its allure. We were lucky enough to stay in a spacious suite with breathtaking views of the church and the iconic Matterhorn in the background. The Swiss charm and efficiency were evident in every detail, from the warm welcome with a bottle of champagne to the impeccable service provided by the concierge. We were even treated to a delightful continental breakfast delivered to our room each morning. From the surprise room upgrade to the complimentary wine, champagne, and soft drinks, every aspect of our stay was carefully thought out. The staff not only provided excellent recommendations for activities and dining but also ensured that our vegan dietary preferences were catered to with fresh and delicious options. The hotel's amenities, including the Vita Borni spa area and the three restaurants on-site, added to the overall luxury experience. We particularly enjoyed dining at the Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni, which served delectable Valais-style cuisine in a sophisticated atmosphere. The Lusi terrace, known as the sunniest spot in the village, was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the stunning surroundings. In conclusion, the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof exceeded all expectations, providing top-notch service, luxurious accommodations, and a truly unforgettable experience. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor to Zermatt, this hotel is a must-see destination that caters to every aspect of the perfect Alpine getaway. I can't wait to return and create more wonderful memories in this stunning location.
